Two things a GI in the 'Nam always had with them at all times; aviators and a jay. The aviators kept the sun out of your eyes, it could get real bright, and the jay kept the war out of your head.
Oh yeah, a lot of guys had weapons, but without the first two, the other was almost superfluous. This was taken at the Leper colony on a cloudy day. It took me awhile to 'read' the background before I realized what setting we were in. He was my buddy during much of my stay in Vietnam.
A bit of a fuck up, the last time I saw him he was in handcuffs awaiting some kind of courts martial. The offense was relatively minor so I don't remember why he was cuffed. I talked the guard into cuffing us together, since I wasn't going anywhere and I didn't need the guard listening in on our conversation. The guard was quite happy to have the opportunity to go get a beer, which he couldn't do with the cuff on him.
Ive featured this amazing shot in my journal [link]

As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
